Memorial Day

We celebrated our holiday with friends!  Lesley's parents have a beautiful home including a gorgeous pool and backyard.  It was a fun day for all the kiddos including the dads!

Summer fun at the Arboretum

The Arboretum is known for their beautiful manicured grounds but in the Texas summer, the coolest place to be is in the frog fountains!  It's such a fun way for the kids to cool off.

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day.  We went to breakfast at my very favorite spot, Le Peep and then headed to Lowe's to gather all the necessary items to make a new flower bed in the backyard.  It was really a lot of fun to do this as a family.  This might be the new Mothers Day tradition for us, to plant something together!

Paddle Boarding in Key West

We spent our first morning in Key West paddle boarding.  I was nervous because I am rather klutzy but it was actually really manageable!  In fact, I never fell off once (not the same for Billy!!!).  Once you learn to balance your board, it's a lot of fun and great exercise!  We booked a tour through www.supkeywest.com and Megan, the owner and our guide, was wonderful.  I would definitely do this again!  After all this exercise, we were starving so we took her suggestion and had lunch at Santiago's Bodega.  This ended up being one of the best meals we've eaten!!  What a great trip!

Key West

Billy and I headed to Key West for my birthday present and boy did we have fun.  Our hotel, The SouthernMost on the Beach was absolutely fabulous!  Great location- at the opposite end of the touristy section of Duval but yet we could still walk everywhere!  We had a room with an ocean view and the grounds were so pretty.  The pool was hopping - or rather the pool bar was hopping and the people watching was crazy!!!!  I have already claimed this will be an annual trip if we can swing it!

My 40th Birthday

Wow.  Turning 40 rocked!  My friends threw me a fabulous party on the rooftop at my favorite restaurant- Terillis.  It was fun and memorable and a great way to kick off the 40's!

A day at the Dallas Zoo

We spent a Sunday back in April at the Dallas Zoo.  The weather was breezy and we all enjoyed it.  The petting zoo for the kids was fun- we fed the goats but our favorite exhibit was the elephants and giraffes.  The terrain and surroundings provided for these animals was outstanding!

Weekend Getaway to Missouri

We headed out before noon on Friday for Gma's house!! Last minute short trips are my favorite!  Home cooked food is the icing on the cake too!! McKinley got to feed the baby calf Saturday and she loved it!  Granny came for lunch then we headed to Eureka Springs for the afternoon and supper. 

Uncle Matt visit

Uncle Matt made a last minute visit thanks to the U.S. Army!  Mac was beside herself and didn't give Uncle Matt much free time- they made crescent rolls, played in her room and played outside- It was a quick but super fun visit!

My first 5k

I ran my first 5k in April.  This was a goal back from August 2012 and many frustrating issues (cough cough my bladder) kept me from achieving this goal sooner.  Nevertheless, I was nervous but Mac and Koda and Billy came to cheer me on and I loved it!!!!  I won't be a marathon runner (after all I am just a 5k runner- inside joke!) but running gives me a lot of time to think, plus listen to my music and I really enjoy the exercise.  I hope to do more 5k's and hopefully even convince my partner in crime to join me.  If not then I'll go back to badgering my friends namely Lesley!!! :)
